Eleventh-ranked Spanish Baskonia (2-6) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Italian Armani Milano (6-2). Armani Milano managed to secure only three-point victory 93-90. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baskonia won fourth quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Armani Milano made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. American point guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 assists. Serbian Vladimir Micov (201-85, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 22 points for the winners. French center Vincent Poirier (210-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American-Georgian Matt Janning (195-88, college: Northeastern) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Baskonia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending Italian champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Anadolu Efes. Baskonia lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with six games lost. Armani Milano's next round opponent will be FC Barcelona (#7) on the road. Baskonia will play against Panathinaikos (#6) and hope to win that game.
