Regular Season Round 9: Buducnost - CSKA 93-92

The biggest surprise took place in Podgorica where host Montenegrin Buducnost (2-7) edged league's leader Russian CSKA (8-1) 93-92 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of CSKA. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 28-25 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Buducnost shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Bosnian point guard Nemanja Gordic (193-88, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 17 points and 7 assists. American Earl Clark (208-88, college: Louisville, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was French guard Nando De-Colo (196-87) who recorded 19 points and 6 assists and American forward Alec Peters (206-95, college: Valparaiso) added 12 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Buducnost moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Gran Canaria. Defending Russian champion CSKA still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Real Madrid who have the same record. CSKA will play next round against league's leader Real Madrid trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Buducnost will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Olympiacos in Pireus.
