Regular Season Round 4: Villeneuve - CCC Polkowice 45-48

A very interesting game took place in Villeneuve. It ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers French Villeneuve D'Ascq (2-2) to fifth ranked Polish CCC Polkowice (2-2) 48-45 in the fight for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Villeneuve D'Ascq. Villeneuve D'Ascq cut a 18-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. CCC Polkowice dominated on the defensive end, holding Villeneuve D'Ascq to just 4 points in second quarter and to 13 points in first half. CCC Polkowice forced 21 Villeneuve D'Ascq turnovers. British-Nigerian forward Temi Fagbenle (193-92, college: USC) fired 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. British Johannah Leedham-Warner (180-87, college: Franklin Pierce) chipped in 7 points and 8 rebounds. American-Slovenian power forward Shante Evans (186-91, college: Hofstra) produced 7 points and 10 rebounds and forward Laetitia Kamba (187-87) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending Polish champion moved-up to fourth place in Group A, which they share with Villeneuve. CCC Polkowice's next round opponent will be Familia Schio (#8) at home. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against Nadezhda Orenburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
