Regular Season Round 5: Flammes - Avenida 62-75
Date: December 5, 2018
Not a big story in a game in Charleville where 6th ranked French Flammes (2-2) were defeated by third ranked Spanish Perfumerias Avenida (2-2) 75-62 on Wednesday. It was a key game for the second position in Group B. The game was mostly controlled by Perfumerias Avenida. Flammes was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Flammes to just 4 points in first quarter. Perfumerias Avenida looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Nigerian-American forward Adaora Elonu (185-90, college: Texas A&M, agency: ProDep Management) stepped up and scored 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Montenegrin-American forward Angelica Robinson (197-87, college: Georgia, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Perfumerias Avenida's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke, agency: ProDep Management) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (180-93, college: Connecticut) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Defending Spanish champion moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Flammes. Perfumerias Avenida will face league's leader Dynamo Kursk at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Flammes will play against Olympiacos (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
