Rather expected game in Moscow where 5th ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (10-4) were defeated by third ranked Russian CSKA (10-4) 102-84 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by CSKA. Anadolu Efes was better in second period 30-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CSKA dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Anadolu Efes' 34. They outrebounded Anadolu Efes 36-21 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. CSKA looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and French guard Nando De-Colo (196-87) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four CSKA players scored in double figures. French guard Rodrigue Beaubois (185-88, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 24 points and Australian forward Brock Motum (208-90, college: Washington St.) scored 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Russian champion maintains third position with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader Fenerbahce, which they share with defeated Anadolu Efes. CSKA will face Panathinaikos (#11) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Anadolu Efes will play on the road against FC Barcelona (#6) and hope to win that game.
