Very expected game when 13th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (5-11) lost on the road to second ranked Spanish Real Madrid (13-3) 91-79. Maccabi T-A was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Real Madrid players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Maccabi T-A was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Mexican center Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: San Jose St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Sergio Llull (190-87) who added 11 points and 10 assists during the contest. Five Real Madrid players scored in double figures. At the losing side American-Tunisian Michael Roll (198-87, college: UCLA) responded with 23 points and 5 assists and American-Israeli center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending Spanish champion maintains second position with 13-3 record having just two points less than leader Fenerbahce. Defending Israeli champion Maccabi T-A dropped to the fourteenth place with 11 games lost.
