Regular Season Round 14: Villeneuve - Bourges 74-78

One of the most interesting games of round 14 was a derby match between two teams from France. Third ranked Bourges won against host Villeneuve D'Ascq (4-10) 78-74. It looked good early as Villeneuve D'Ascq took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Bourges had a 17-14 second period charge getting the lead and Villeneuve D'Ascq was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-78. Spanish point guard Cristina Ouvina (173-90) notched 19 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and Canadian forward Katherine Plouffe (190-92, college: Marquette) supported her with 8 points and 14 rebounds. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by guard Magali Mendy (178-90, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Villeneuve D'Ascq. Forward Laetitia Kamba (187-87) added 13 points for the hosts. Four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. Defending French champion maintains third position in Group A with 9-5 record having just twenty three point less than leader Atomeromu. Villeneuve D'Ascq at the other side dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost.
