Regular Season Round 25: Real Madrid - Fenerbahce 101-86

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (21-4) on the court of third ranked Spanish Real Madrid on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by Real Madrid 101-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Fenerbahce. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. Fenerbahce managed to win fourth quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Sergio Llull (190-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 assists. American-Slovenian Anthony Randolph (211-89, college: LSU) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Greek point guard Konstantinos Sloukas (197-90) answered with 15 points and 7 assists and Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Fenerbahce. Five Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending Spanish champion (19-6) moved-up to second place, which they share with CSKA. Defending Turkish champion Fenerbahce still keeps top position with four games lost. Real Madrid is looking forward to face Khimki (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fenerbahce will play against FC Barcelona (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
