Semi-Finals Game 2: Unics - Valencia 73-79

Date: March 22, 2019
Valencia surprised Unics in Kazan to advance into the championship series. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-16. But Unics Kazan won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 26 personal fouls committed by Unics Kazan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Belgian point guard Sam Van-Rossom (188-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points. American guard Matt Thomas (196-94, college: Iowa St.) contributed with 15 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. American guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) replied with 13 points and 5 assists and guard Anton Ponkrashov (200-86, agency: BeoBasket) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Unics Kazan. Four Unics Kazan players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
