Regular Season Round 2: Milano - Zalgiris 85-81

Armani Milano used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Kaunas 85-81 on Friday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-7. But Zalgiris won second period 29-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Armani Milano dominated on the defensive end, holding Zalgiris to just 7 points in first quarter. They made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Spanish point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) scored 17 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American-Italian Jeffrey Brooks (203-89, college: Penn St.) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Guard Thomas Walkup (193-92, college: SF Austin) responded with 19 points and point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Armani Milano will face Panathinaikos (#7) in Athens in the next round. Zalgiris will play at home against Real Madrid (#1) and hope to win that game.
