Regular Season Round 4: Bayern - Khimki 74-87

Round 4 most important game was a victory of Russian Khimki over one of their biggest challengers German Bayern Muenchen 87-74 on Thursday night. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-74. Khimki shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Alexey Shved (198-88, agency: Alti Sport) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. American Anthony Gill (204-92, college: Virginia) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Khimki players scored in double figures. American center Greg Monroe (211-90, college: Georgetown) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian Vladimir Lucic (201-89, agency: BeoBasket) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Bayern Muenchen. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Khimki (3-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with Milano and Anadolu Efes. Defending German champion Bayern Muenchen dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Khimki is looking forward to face Panathinaikos (#9) in Athens in the next round where they are favorite. Bayern Muenchen will play at home against Real Madrid and is hoping to win this game.
