Regular Season Round 11: FC Barcelona - CSKA 67-96
Date: November 29, 2019
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (8-3) against seventh ranked Russian CSKA (7-4) on Friday night. Host FC Barcelona was crushed by CSKA in Barcelona 96-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of FC Barcelona. It looked good early as FC Barcelona took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then CSKA had a 33-18 second period charge getting the lead and FC Barcelona was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-96. CSKA players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 6 assists. Center Kyle Hines (198-86, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five CSKA players scored in double figures. American center Brandon Davies (208-91, college: BYU, agency: BeoBasket) came up with 19 points and 5 steals and Montenegrin-Spanish Nikola Mirotic (208-91) added 19 points respectively for FC Barcelona in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending Russian champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. FC Barcelona at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Real Madrid. CSKA will play against Zalgiris (#17) in Kaunas in the next round which should be another easy win for them. FC Barcelona will play on the road against Khimki (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
