The game in Venezia supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Czech USK Praha (5-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Italian Venezia (1-5). USK Praha smashed Venezia 77-50 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by USK Praha. Venezia was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Venezia to just 6 points in first quarter. USK Praha dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Venezia's 24. USK Praha forced 19 Venezia turnovers. American center Brionna Jones (190-95, college: Maryland) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Spanish point guard Cristina Ouvina (173-90) chipped in 7 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian power forward Gintare Petronyte (197-89) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Jolene Anderson (173-86, college: Wisconsin) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Czech champion used an opportunity after UMMC lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position in Group A. Venezia lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with five games lost. USK Praha will face Castors Braine (#5) at home in the next round. Venezia will play against TTT Riga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
