Regular Season Round 17: Baskonia - FC Barcelona 76-74

The most exciting game of round 17 in the Euroleague took place in Vitoria. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked FC Barcelona (13-4) to twelfth ranked Baskonia (7-10) 76-74 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of FC Barcelona. FC Barcelona trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 20-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 74-76 at the end of the game. American point guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and Georgian Tornike Shengelia (206-91, agency: Wasserman) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Montenegrin-Spanish Nikola Mirotic (208-91) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Malcolm Delaney (191-89, college: Virginia Tech) scored 13 points and 6 assists. Four FC Barcelona players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Baskonia maintains twelfth place with 7-10 record. FC Barcelona at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. Baskonia are looking forward to face Fenerbahce (#13) in Istanbul in the next round. FC Barcelona will play at home against the league's leader Anadolu Efes (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
