Regular Season Round 17: Zalgiris - Maccabi T-A 73-68

An interesting game took place in Kaunas where 4th placed Israeli Maccabi T-A (11-6) was upset on the court of seventeenth ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (5-12) 73-68 on Thursday. Maccabi T-A was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Zalgiris made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Maccabi T-A was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) chipped in 10 points. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American-Israeli power forward Jake Cohen (208-90, college: Davidson) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Greek-American Tyler Dorsey (193-96, college: Oregon, agency: Wasserman) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Defending Lithuanian champion moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with ALBA. Defending Israeli champion Maccabi T-A keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Zalgiris will face league's second-placed Real Madrid on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi T-A will play against ALBA Berlin and hope to win that game.
