Regular Season Round 17: Milano - Zenit 73-72

Eighteenth-ranked Russian Zenit (4-13) gave a tough game to seventh ranked Italian Armani Milano (9-8). Armani Milano managed to secure only one-point victory 73-72. However their fans expected much easier game. Zenit was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Armani Milano made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game, while Zenit only scored seven points from the stripe. Argentinian-Spanish power forward Luis Scola (206-80) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. American center Kaleb Tarczewski (213-93, college: Arizona) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Mexican center Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: SJSU) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds and French point guard Andrew Albicy (177-90) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Zenit. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Armani Milano maintains seventh place with 9-8 record. Zenit at the other side stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Armani Milano's next round opponent will be higher ranked Panathinaikos (#6) in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zenit will play on the road against Khimki (#11) and hope to win that game.
