Regular Season Round 11: UMMC - USK Praha 88-65

An interesting game for Russian UMMC Ekaterinburg (10-1) which hosted in Ekaterinburg second-ranked Czech USK Praha (9-2). First ranked UMMC Ekaterinburg had an easy win 88-65. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of USK Praha. It was a key game for the top position in Group A. The game was mostly controlled by UMMC Ekaterinburg. USK Praha managed to win fourth quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UMMC Ekaterinburg looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by USK Praha's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when UMMC Ekaterinburg made 10 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Belgian center Emma Meesseman (192-93, agency: LBM Management) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Hungarian-American point guard Courtney Vandersloot (173-89, college: Gonzaga) accounted for 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. UMMC Ekaterinburg's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spanish point guard Cristina Ouvina (173-90) came up with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American center Brionna Jones (190-95, college: Maryland) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively for USK Praha in the defeat. Four UMMC Ekaterinburg and five USK Praha players scored in double figures. UMMC Ekaterinburg have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending Russian champion maintains first place in Group A with 10-1 record. Defending Czech champion USK Praha keeps the second position with two games lost. UMMC Ekaterinburg will meet at home TTT Riga (#5) in the next round. USK Praha will play against Nadezhda Orenburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
