We should mention about the upset which took place in Muenchen, where higher ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (14-7) lost to eighteenth ranked German Bayern Muenchen (7-14) in a road game 68-80 on Thursday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maccabi T-A. The game was mostly controlled by Bayern Muenchen. Maccabi T-A managed to win second period 21-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bayern Muenchen made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Paul Zipser (203-94, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Bosnian-German swingman Nihad Djedovic (198-90, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 19 points. The best for the losing side was Liberian-American center Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee Services) with 10 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Aaron Jackson (190-86, college: Duquesne) scored 11 points and 6 assists. Defending Israeli champion Maccabi T-A keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Bayern Muenchen will meet higher ranked Armani Milano (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi T-A will play against the league's second-placed Real Madrid where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
