Regular Season Round 23: Zalgiris - Olympiacos 94-69

There was a minor upset in Kaunas where 11th ranked Greek Olympiacos (9-14) were crushed by fourteenth ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (9-14) 94-69 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. It was a great evening for guard Thomas Walkup (193-92, college: SF Austin) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points and 5 assists. Arturas Milaknis (195-86) helped adding 19 points. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Serbian center Nikola Milutinov (213-94, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 8 points and 13 rebounds and American swingman Brandon Paul (193-91, college: Illinois, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 7 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Zalgiris. Defending Lithuanian champion moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Olympiacos. Zalgiris will face league's leader Anadolu Efes in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
