Regular Season Round 24: ALBA - Real Madrid 97-103
Date: February 6, 2020
There was no surprise when 15th ranked German ALBA Berlin (8-16) was defeated at home by second ranked Spanish Real Madrid (18-6) 103-97. ALBA Berlin was ahead by 10 points at the halftime before a 29-11 third quarter run of Real Madrid. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. The winners were led by American-Slovenian Anthony Randolph (211-89, college: LSU) who scored that evening 27 points and 6 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo (181-91) supported him with 10 points and 19 assists. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by Lithuanian Rokas Giedraitis (200-92) did not help to save the game for ALBA Berlin. American Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) added 4 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Real Madrid have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Spanish champion maintains second position with 18-6 record having just three points less than leader Anadolu Efes, which they share with FC Barcelona. ALBA Berlin at the other side dropped to the sixteenth place with 16 games lost. Real Madrid's next round opponent will be Fenerbahce (#9) in Istanbul and are hoping to win another game. ALBA Berlin will play on the road against Zenit (#18) in Sankt Petersburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
