Regular Season Round 25: Baskonia - Zalgiris 60-74

Everything could happen in Vitoria at the game between two tied teams. Both fourteenth ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris and 13th ranked Spanish Baskonia had identical 9-15 record. But Baskonia was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Kaunas 74-60 on Thursday night. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 44-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zalgiris outrebounded Baskonia 38-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Georgian Tornike Shengelia (206-91, agency: Wasserman) answered with 12 points and 5 assists and American guard Semaj Christon (190-92, college: Xavier) added 17 points in the effort for Baskonia. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Lithuanian champion (10-15) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Crvena Zvezda. Loser Baskonia dropped to the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Zalgiris will face higher ranked Armani Milano (#11) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Baskonia will play against Crvena Zvezda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
