The game between 9th ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (11-14) and second ranked Spanish Real Madrid (19-6) in Istanbul on Thursday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Madrid outscored Fenerbahce 94-65. The game without a history. Real Madrid led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Fenerbahce's 34. They outrebounded Fenerbahce 33-18 including a 25-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Real Madrid looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Fenerbahce's players. It was a very good performance for Cape Verdean-Spanish center Walter Tavares (220-92) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds. American-Azerbaijani Jaycee Carroll (188-83) contributed with 20 points for the winners. French guard Nando De-Colo (196-87) answered with 21 points and 6 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and Czech power forward Jan Vesely (213-90) added 16 points in the effort for Fenerbahce. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Real Madrid. Defending Spanish champion maintains second place with 19-6 record having just three points less than leader Anadolu Efes, which they share with FC Barcelona. Loser Fenerbahce dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Real Madrid will face Panathinaikos (#6) in Athens in the next round. Fenerbahce will play on the road against Valencia Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
