Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked German Bayern Muenchen (8-20) was edged on the road by third ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (22-6) 83-80 on Friday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Bayern Muenchen was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 11-point lead after three quarters before a 26-12 charge of FC Barcelona, which allowed them to win the game. They made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Bayern Muenchen was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Greg Monroe (211-90, college: Georgetown) replied with 19 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian Vladimir Lucic (203-89, agency: BeoBasket) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Bayern Muenchen. Four Bayern Muenchen players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. FC Barcelona have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Real Madrid. Defending German champion Bayern Muenchen keeps the seventeenth position with 20 games lost. FC Barcelona will face Zalgiris (#10) in Kaunas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bayern Muenchen will play on the road against Khimki (#7) and hope to win that game.
