Regular Season Round 1: Valencia - ASVEL 65-63

A very interesting game took place in Valencia. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of French ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket to Spanish Valencia Basket 65-63 on Thursday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket won third quarter 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Derrick Williams (203-91, college: Arizona) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import center Mike Tobey (213-94, college: Virginia) contributed with 10 points for the winners. American point guard Norris Cole (188-88, college: CSU) answered with 11 points and 6 assists and center Moustapha Fall (218-92) added 14 points in the effort for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Valencia Basket's next round opponent will be Real Madrid on the road which should be an easy win for them. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against Armani Milano and hope to win that game.
