Regular Season Round 2: Real Madrid - Valencia 77-93

One of the most interesting games of round 2 was a derby match between two teams from Spain. Valencia Basket won against host Real Madrid 93-77. It looked good early as Real Madrid took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Valencia Basket had a 27-20 second period charge getting the lead and Real Madrid was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-93. Valencia Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Montenegrin center Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) notched 24 points to lead the effort and Serbian forward Nikola Kalinic (202-91) supported him with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) by Cape Verdean-Spanish center Walter Tavares (220-92) did not help to save the game for Real Madrid. Argentinian guard Facundo Campazzo (181-91) added 14 points for the hosts. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket's next round opponent will be FC Barcelona at home where they are favorite. Real Madrid will play against Khimki and hope to win that game.
