Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Spanish Valencia Basket (3-2) and Russian CSKA (3-3), which took place in Moscow. One of their biggest challengers Valencia Basket lost to eleventh ranked CSKA in a road game 75-84 on Thursday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Valencia Basket. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Valencia Basket won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 5 assists. The other American import Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four CSKA players scored in double figures. Serbian forward Nikola Kalinic (202-91) replied with 15 points and French forward Louis Labeyrie (209-92) added 10 points in the effort for Valencia Basket. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. CSKA moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Olympiacos and Fenerbahce. Loser Valencia Basket dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. CSKA will face Panathinaikos (#11) in Athens in the next round where they are favorite. Valencia Basket will play at home against Armani Milano (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
