Regular Season Round 6: Olympiacos - Anadolu Efes 79-84

There was an upset when higher ranked Greek Olympiacos (3-3) lost to fifteenth ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (2-3) in Pireus 79-84 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Olympiacos won fourth quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olympiacos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Serbian guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 7 assists. American-Turkish guard Shane Larkin (182-92, college: Miami, FL) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. Guard Kostas Sloukas (190-90) replied with 10 points and 7 assists and American center Hassan Martin (201-95, college: URI) added 11 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Olympiacos. Olympiacos' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending Turkish champion moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Crvena Zvezda. Loser Olympiacos dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Anadolu Efes will face Maccabi T-A (#14) in Tel-Aviv in the next round.
