Regular Season Round 8: Maccabi T-A - Zalgiris 85-57
Date: November 12, 2020
The most important game in the last round took place in Tel-Aviv between second ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (5-3) and fifteenth ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (3-5) on Thursday night. Zalgiris were crushed by Maccabi T-A on the road 85-57. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. Zalgiris managed to win third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi T-A especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was Greek-American guard Tyler Dorsey (196-96, college: Oregon, agency: Wasserman) who scored 16 points and 4 assists. American point guard Chris Jones (188-93, college: Angelo St.) chipped in 15 points. Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. American guard Thomas Walkup (193-92, college: SF Austin) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and French center Joffrey Lauvergne (211-91, agency: BeoBasket) added 11 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Israeli champion moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Crvena Zvezda. Defending Lithuanian champion Zalgiris dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with CSKA and Olympiacos. Maccabi T-A is looking forward to face higher ranked Real Madrid (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Zalgiris will play against CSKA (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
