No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Spanish Valencia Basket (5-3) beat at home 15th ranked Greek Panathinaikos (2-5) 95-83 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Valencia Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Valencia Basket shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for Slovenian guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American forward Derrick Williams (203-91, college: Arizona) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Forward Ioannis Papapetrou (203-94, college: Texas) answered with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Shelvin Mack (191-90, college: Butler) added 15 points and 4 assists in the effort for Panathinaikos. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Olympiacos. Panathinaikos lost third consecutive game. Defending Greek champion keep the fifteenth position with five games lost. Valencia Basket will face Maccabi T-A (#14) in Tel-Aviv in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panathinaikos will play on the road against Baskonia in Vitoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
