Regular Season Round 10: Baskonia - Panathinaikos 93-72
Date: November 19, 2020
Rather expected game in Vitoria where 16th ranked Greek Panathinaikos (2-6) were crushed by thirteenth ranked Spanish Baskonia (4-4) 93-72 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-72. Baskonia outrebounded Panathinaikos 36-24 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Alec Peters (206-95, college: Valpo) chipped in 19 points during the contest (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Baskonia players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Georgios Papagiannis (220-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian guard Nemanja Nedovic (192-91, agency: BeoBasket) scored 15 points and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Defending Spanish champion moved-up to eleventh place. Panathinaikos lost fourth consecutive game. Defending Greek champion dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. Baskonia will face higher ranked Zenit (#9) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Panathinaikos will play at home against Bayern Muenchen (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
