Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (5-7) lost to second ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (9-2) in Kaunas 62-73 on Friday. The game without a history. FC Barcelona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for Greek-American point guard Nick Calathes (197-89, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. American center Brandon Davies (208-91, college: BYU, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American forward Nigel Hayes (203-94, college: Wisconsin) replied with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Rokas Jokubaitis (193-0) added 15 points in the effort for Zalgiris. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Barcelona keeps a position of league leader. Zalgiris lost sixth consecutive game. Defending Lithuanian champion keep the eleventh place with seven games lost. FC Barcelona will face Olympiacos (#10) in Pireus in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris will play on the road against Panathinaikos in Athens and hope to win that game.
