Regular Season Round 13: Khimki - AX Armani MI 93-102
Date: December 8, 2020
Very predictable result when sixth ranked Italian Armani Milano (7-5) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Russian Khimki (2-11) 102-93 on Tuesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-20. But Khimki won second period 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Armani Milano shot 61.5 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 68.4 percentage. Armani Milano looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Danish forward Shavon Shields (201-94, college: Nebraska) stepped up and scored 26 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and American guard Malcolm Delaney (191-89, college: Virginia Tech) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists. At the losing side guard Alexey Shved (198-88, agency: Alti Sport) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists and Swedish-American center Jonas Jerebko (208-87) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Armani Milano went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with Olympiacos. Khimki lost their fifth game in a row. Defending Russian champion stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Armani Milano will face Fenerbahce (#13) in Istanbul in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Khimki will play on the road against the league's leader FC Barcelona (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
