Regular Season Round 13: Barca - AX Armani MI 87-71

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Spanish FC Barcelona as it allowed them to take a leadership position. FC Barcelona defeated 6th ranked Italian Armani Milano at home 87-71. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 27-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. FC Barcelona dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Armani Milano's 26. They outrebounded Armani Milano 37-20 including a 26-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for FC Barcelona especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Nikola Mirotic (208-91) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American center Brandon Davies (208-91, college: BYU, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the losing side American guard Malcolm Delaney (191-89, college: Virginia Tech) responded with 23 points and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import center Kyle Hines (198-86, agency: BeoBasket) scored 10 points. Four Armani Milano players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with CSKA. Armani Milano at the other side dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Olympiacos. Armani Milano will play next round against Fenerbahce trying to get back on the winning streak. FC Barcelona will try to continue on its current victory against eighteenth ranked Khimki at home.
