Regular Season Round 15: Zalgiris - Fenerbahce 99-62

No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (8-7) crushed 13th ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (5-10) in Kaunas 99-62 on Thursday. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Fenerbahce to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Fenerbahce 39-19 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zalgiris shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Fenerbahce's players. It was a good game for American forward Augustine Rubit (203-89, college: USA, agency: Wasserman) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Marius Grigonis (198-94) contributed with 12 points and 7 assists for the winners. French guard Nando De-Colo (196-87) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Jarell Eddie (201-91, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Octagon Europe) added 12 points in the effort for Fenerbahce. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Zalgiris. Defending Lithuanian champion moved-up to eighth place. Fenerbahce lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixteenth position with ten games lost. Zalgiris will face higher ranked Bayern Muenchen (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fenerbahce will play against Olympiacos (#9) and hope to win that game.
