Worth to mention about the upset in a game between German ALBA Berlin (6-8) and Greek Panathinaikos (5-9), which took place in Athens. Higher ranked ALBA Berlin was outleveled in a road game by sixteenth ranked Panathinaikos 92-69 on Thursday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of ALBA Berlin. Center Georgios Papagiannis (220-97) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. American guard Peyton Siva (183-90, college: Louisville) answered with 11 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Luke Sikma (202-89, college: Portland) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for ALBA Berlin. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Greek champion moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with ASVEL. Defending German champion ALBA Berlin dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Panathinaikos will face higher ranked Maccabi T-A (#13) in Tel-Aviv in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
