The game had a very big importance for second-ranked CSKA as it allowed them to take a leadership position. CSKA defeated 7th ranked Zenit in Moscow 83-65. The game without a history. CSKA led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a good game for American guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Serbian center Nikola Milutinov (213-94, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Canadian-Slovenian guard Kevin Pangos (186-93, college: Gonzaga) answered with 14 points and American-Guinea-Bissau KC Rivers (196-87, college: Clemson) added 12 points in the effort for Zenit. Five CSKA and four Zenit players scored in double figures. Zenit's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. CSKA (12-3) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Zenit at the other side keeps the seventh place with five games lost. Zenit will play next round against Crvena Zvezda trying to get back on the winning streak. CSKA will try to continue on its current victory against fourteenth ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket on the road.
