Regular Season Round 17: Bayern - Barca 90-77

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (11-6) against fifth ranked German Bayern Muenchen (11-6) on Wednesday night. Visiting FC Barcelona was defeated by Bayern Muenchen in Muenchen 90-77. FC Barcelona was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 27-10 third quarter run of Bayern Muenchen. They made 23-of-23 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Bayern Muenchen especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. American point guard Wade Baldwin-IV (193-96, college: Vanderbilt) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 7 assists. His fellow American import center Jalen Reynolds (207-92, college: Xavier) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Greek-American point guard Nick Calathes (197-89, college: Florida) answered with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and swingman Alex Abrines (198-93) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for FC Barcelona. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bayern Muenchen moved-up to third place, which they share with Barca. FC Barcelona lost third consecutive game. Bayern Muenchen will play against Olympiacos (#10) in Pireus in the next round and are hoping to win another game. FC Barcelona will play at home against Valencia Basket (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
