Very important is a home loss of second ranked Spanish Real Madrid (12-6) against eighth ranked Italian Armani Milano (10-7) on Friday night. Host Real Madrid was defeated by Armani Milano in a tough game in Madrid 76-80. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Real Madrid. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American guard Malcolm Delaney (191-89, college: Virginia Tech) notched 14 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and Spanish guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) supported him with 17 points. Even 20 points by American-Azerbaijani guard Jaycee Carroll (188-83) did not help to save the game for Real Madrid. Cape Verdean-Spanish center Walter Tavares (220-92) added 14 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Armani Milano moved-up to seventh place. Loser Real Madrid keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Barca. Armani Milano will meet at home Valencia Basket (#8) in the next round. Real Madrid will play against Crvena Zvezda (#15) and hope to secure a win.
