Regular Season Round 24: Valencia - CSKA 105-103

Important game to mention about took place in Valencia. Tenth ranked Spanish Valencia Basket (12-12) saved a 2-point victory at home edging second-best Russian CSKA (16-8) 105-103 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Valencia Basket outrebounded CSKA 47-31 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. CSKA was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Slovenian guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Serbian forward Nikola Kalinic (202-91) who added 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) with 37 points (!!!), 7 assists and 4 steals and German forward Johannes Voigtmann (211-92) scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Valencia Basket maintains tenth position with 12-12 record. CSKA at the other side keeps the second place with eight games lost. Valencia Basket will play against higher ranked Real Madrid (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CSKA will play against Panathinaikos and hopes to get back on the winning track.
