Euroleague top team - Spanish FC Barcelona (18-7) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (13-11) 86-62. FC Barcelona dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris' 36. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. FC Barcelona brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Power forward Pierre Oriola (208-92) nailed 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American Cory Higgins (195-89, college: Colorado, agency: Network Sports International) accounted for 19 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Four FC Barcelona players scored in double figures. American forward Augustine Rubit (203-89, college: USA, agency: Wasserman) came up with 6 points and 7 rebounds and guard Marius Grigonis (198-94) added 8 points and 4 assists respectively for Zalgiris in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Barcelona maintains first place with 18-7 record. Defending Lithuanian champion Zalgiris keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. FC Barcelona will play against ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#13) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Zalgiris will play against Crvena Zvezda (#17) and hope to get back on the winning track.
