Regular Season Round 25: Valencia - Real Madrid 89-78

The most interesting game of round 25 was a derby match between two teams from Spain. Tenth ranked Valencia Basket won against visiting Real Madrid (15-10) 89-78. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia Basket. Real Madrid managed to win third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Belgian point guard Sam Van-Rossom (188-86) stepped up and scored 16 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Serbian forward Nikola Kalinic (202-91) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. At the losing side Cape Verdean-Spanish center Walter Tavares (220-92) responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds and American-Azerbaijani guard Jaycee Carroll (188-83) scored 20 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valencia Basket maintains tenth place with 13-12 record. Real Madrid at the other side keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. They share it with Bayern and Fenerbahce. Valencia Basket are looking forward to face higher ranked Zenit (#7) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Real Madrid will play at home against Zalgiris and is hoping to win this game.
