No shocking result in a game when third ranked Italian Milano (17-9) defeated at home bottom-ranked Russian Khimki (2-23) 84-74 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Khimki was better in fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Khimki 39-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Milano looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Danish forward Shavon Shields (201-94, college: Nebraska) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. American center Kyle Hines (198-86, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Milano's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Jordan Mickey (203-94, college: LSU) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Errick McCollum (188-88, college: Goshen) added 15 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Milano maintains third position with 17-9 record behind leader Barca. Khimki lost seventeenth consecutive game. Defending Russian champion stay dead last with 23 lost games. Milano will face Fenerbahce (#8) in Istanbul in the next round where they are favorite. Khimki will play at home against Real Madrid (#4) and hope to win that game.
