Regular Season Round 27: Anadolu Efes - Valencia 99-83

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Spanish Valencia Basket (14-13) lost to seventh ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (16-10) in Istanbul 83-99 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 99-83. Anadolu Efes shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 58.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for center Sertac Sanli (212-91) who led his team to a victory with 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Serbian guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. Montenegrin center Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Belgian point guard Sam Van-Rossom (188-86) added 8 points and 4 assists in the effort for Valencia Basket. Valencia Basket's coach gave the chance to play for eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Anadolu Efes. Defending Turkish champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Zenit. Loser Valencia Basket dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Anadolu Efes will face league's second-placed CSKA in Moscow in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valencia Basket will play on the road against Maccabi T-A (#14) in Tel-Aviv and hope to win that game.
