Date: March 4, 2021
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Russian CSKA (18-9) against sixth ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (17-10) on Thursday night. Visiting CSKA was crushed by Anadolu Efes in Istanbul 100-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CSKA. The game without a history. Anadolu Efes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 24-of-26 charity shots (92.3 percent) during the game, while CSKA only scored six points from the stripe. Anadolu Efes forced 19 CSKA turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by Serbian guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 21 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and center Sertac Sanli (212-91) supported him with 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by Georgian forward Tornike Shengelia (206-91, agency: Wasserman) did not help to save the game for CSKA. German forward Johannes Voigtmann (211-92) added 10 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anadolu Efes have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending Turkish champion moved-up to fifth place. CSKA at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. Anadolu Efes will play against Zalgiris (#9) in Kaunas in the next round. CSKA will play at home against Milano (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
