Semi-Finals Game 1: Monaco - Gran Canaria 82-77

IMonaco held off Gran Canaria in the opener. looked good early as Gran Canaria took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Monaco had a 24-5 second period charge getting the lead and Gran Canaria was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-82. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gran Canaria to just 5 points in second quarter. Monaco made 21-of-24 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Monaco especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Gran Canaria was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Rob Gray (185-94, college: Houston) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and center Mathias Lessort (205-95, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. Four Monaco players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Matt Costello (206-93, college: Michigan St.) responded with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and Polish-American AJ Slaughter (191-87, college: WKU, agency: BeoBasket) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Gran Canaria's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
