Regular Season Round 2: Bayern - Barca 72-80

Very expected game when German Bayern Muenchen lost at home to Spanish Barca 80-72 on Thursday. Bayern Muenchen trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 25-17 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 72-80 at the end of the game. Barca made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. American Cory Higgins (196-89, college: Colorado, agency: Network Sports International) notched 16 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and Nikola Mirotic (208-91) supported him with 11 points. Barca's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points and 4 steals by American Darrun Hilliard (198-93, college: Villanova, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Bayern Muenchen. His fellow American import DeShaun Thomas (201-91, college: Ohio St.) added 14 points for the hosts. Barca will meet at home Olympiacos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bayern Muenchen will play against Unics in Kazan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
