Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Spanish Real Madrid (3-1) outleveled at home 13th ranked Greek Panathinaikos (1-3) 88-65 on Friday. The game without a history. Real Madrid led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Real Madrid outrebounded Panathinaikos 39-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Cape Verdean-Spanish center Walter Tavares (220-92) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and French Guerschon Yabusele (201-95) who added 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Daryl Macon (190-95, college: Arkansas) responded with 18 points and his fellow American import point guard Kendrick Perry (183-92, college: YSU) scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Defending Greek champion Panathinaikos keep the thirteenth position with three games lost. They share it with ALBA and Unics. Real Madrid will meet at home Fenerbahce (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Panathinaikos will play against Maccabi Tel-Aviv (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
