Everything could happen in Athens at the game between two tied teams. Both sixteenth ranked Greek Panathinaikos and 17th ranked Turkish Efes had identical 1-4 record. This time Panathinaikos used a home court advantage and outleveled the opponent from Istanbul 95-69 on Wednesday night. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Panathinaikos had a 34-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Daryl Macon (190-95, college: Arkansas) who scored 34 points (!!!) (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Center Georgios Papagiannis (220-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was French Rodrigue Beaubois (190-88, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 16 points and American guard Elijah Bryant (196-95, college: BYU, agency: Pensack Sports) added 15 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Greek champion (2-4) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 5 other teams. Defending Turkish champion Efes keep the seventeenth position with five games lost. Panathinaikos will meet at home higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Efes will play against Zalgiris (#18) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
