Regular Season Round 8: CSKA - Fenerbahce 82-91
Date: November 4, 2021
There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (3-5) beat higher ranked Russian CSKA (4-4) in Moscow 91-82 on Thursday. The game without a history. Fenerbahce led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Fenerbahce especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Czech center Jan Vesely (213-90, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American center Devin Booker (205-91, college: Clemson) supported him with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Even 26 points and 9 rebounds by American Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) did not help to save the game for CSKA. American-Italian point guard Daniel Hackett (193-87, college: USC) added 15 points and 5 assists for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Fenerbahce moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 5 other teams. CSKA lost third consecutive game. Defending Russian champion keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Monaco. Fenerbahce will meet at home league's leader Milano in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CSKA will play against the league's second-placed Maccabi Tel-Aviv (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
