Very important is a home loss of third ranked Russian Dynamo Kursk (3-3) against sixth ranked Italian Schio (3-3) on Wednesday night. Host Dynamo Kursk was crushed by Schio in Kursk 93-74. Schio shot 67.9 percent from the field. Schio outrebounded Dynamo Kursk 40-20 including a 35-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. Schio looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Schio made 7 blocks. French center Sandrine Gruda (193-87) notched 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and power forward Jasmine Keys (192-97) supported her with 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Even 23 points by American point guard Arike Ogunbowale (173-97, college: Notre Dame) did not help to save the game for Dynamo Kursk. Center Elizaveta Shabanova (197-97) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Schio and four Dynamo Kursk players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Schio moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Dynamo Kursk. Schio will meet at home league's leader Galatasaray in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dynamo Kursk will play against Fenerbahce (#6) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
